idényt SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards takes place for the first time in 2017. And for the first time, idényt’s readers have the opportunity to vote on which products they find best in connection with “smart home”.

idényt SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards is an online concept at idenyt.dk. Brands submit their best products within different main categories.

The main categories are Lighting, Smart baths, Gadgets, Household appliances (small and large), Security and Surveillance.

Producers can submit as many products as they like. It is free to submit products for the jury to nominate, but if you are nominated, you must pay a handling fee.

The expert jury selects and nominates a selection of the products.

The panel consists of Tech Specialist, David Guldager, Magazine Editor at Komputer For Alle (Computer for everyone), Henning Rasmussen, and Assistant Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen, Lea Schick. The jury nominates the products to enter the user poll, which they believe are the smartest within the area of ​​SmartHome.

The nominated brands may use the specially designed label “Nominated for the SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards 2017/18” in their own PR and marketing efforts. The nominated products will be integrated into the “SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards 2017/18” universe at idenyt.dk.

Users vote on which of the nominated products will win the “SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards 2017/18″ in each category. The brands who win may use the specially designed label “Winner of the SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards 2017/18” in their own PR and marketing efforts.

The readers who participate in the poll are in competition for lavish goodie bags with various products donated by the nominated brands.

idényt SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards 2017/18 Judges

David Guldager is one of Denmark’s leading digital experts with several years of dissemination experience on television and online as well as a lecturer. David keeps his finger on the tech pulse, not least where new products, technologies and gadgets are concerned, before everyone else. He knows what the future will bring – and is not afraid of sharing his knowledge.  

For 10 years, Henning Rasmussen has worked as a journalist at the magazine Komputer For Alle. Among other things, he has been testing the latest IT equipment and writing articles about all the things you can use with a PC. In his home in Amager, all of the lights, heat, entertainment, door lock and video surveillance of smart devices are controlled via apps on the phone.

Lea Schick is an Assistant Professor at the IT University of Copenhagen, in the Digital Design department. Her research concerns smart products and their various social, environmental and financial aspects, and the topic of her PhD thesis was the transition to smart grid and the various technologies imagined to move into people’s homes. Lea also works as an Innovation Consultant for the Alexandra Institute.

Campaign Setup

idényt SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards is built around a user poll. In relation to the idényt SmartHome – Readers’ Choice Awards 2017, traffic and PR campaigns will run on several of Bonnier’s and Benjamin Media’s online sites.

These campaigns will not directly focus on promoting the nominated products, but focus on generating traffic to the user poll. Therefore, the user poll will generate PR toward the nominated products. The preferred chosen media are listed below.
